Choosing the right detergent with Electrolux

There are plenty of brands of detergent in the market. Choosing the right detergent might be a hassle. Here are some information to help you make the right decision.

Powder or liquid?

It doesn't matter, as long as you use the right detergent as per recommendations -

- For whites, with bleach;

- For coloured clothes, without bleach;

- For wool and silk, without enzymes.

How much detergent?

Using the right amount of detegent is more important that you might think.

Too much will not make your laundry cleaner. On the contrary, detergent residue will remain in the fabric, which can irritate the skin and cause allergies. Too little and your clothes might not get clean.

First and foremost, read the recommended dosage and instructions on the pack. It tells you how much to use and where to put the powder/liquid. Adjust the dosage up or down based on what you're washing, how heavily soiled the clothes are and your local water hardness.

Do I need to use fabric softener?

The purpose of fabric softener is to make your washing softer and reduce static electricity. This is because there will be a layer of static left over on the surface of the clothes after it is washed by detergent. It is hence a good idea to use it as an afterwash.

Whatever brand of detergent you choose, always wash full load and don't wash at unnecessarily high temperature to avoid damaging your fabric.
